Plugin: SLTags 1.2

SLTags is a WordPress plugin that will allow you to easily generate Second Life tags at the bottom of your blog entries. SLTags works also in a WYSIWYG environment.

Usage

The main way of using SLTags for Second Life is to enclose your tags within the [sl] or [slwiki] tags at the end of eash post. Example:

[sls]Second Life, LindenLab, Lindens[/sls]
[slwikis]Second Life, LindenLab, Lindens[/slwikis]

That’s it. Whenever someone views the post either on the web, or via RSS/ATOM, the words you marked would be expanded to Second life tags.

SLTags also allow you to tag words within your post. To tag a word/phrase, enclose it within [sl] (note that this does not have an “s” on the end). Words marked this way will appear in the list of tags at the bottom of the post. You can also combine these methods.

EXAMPLE:

Here is how you would write a post using both [sl] (individual words) and [sls] or [slwiki] and [slwikis] (multiple tags on a single line):

This post demonstrates how SLTags work. All the words that are enclosed withing 'tags' will be added to the bottom list of Second Life tags at the bottom of the post. We can also provide a list of additional words/phrases that we want tagged, like the one below.

[sls]Second Life, LindenLab, Lindens[/sls]

[slwikis]Second Life, LindenLab, Lindens[/slwikis]

Life example can be found here.

Download

Download SLTag, Version 1.2, Aug 21th, 2006.

Installation

  1. Download the SLTags Plugin
  2. Uncompress the archive and copy/ftp the sltags.php to your wp-content/plugins directory.
  3. In the WordPress Admin panel, activate the SLTags plugin on the plugins tab

QuickTags

If you like writing your posts from within WordPress, itsself, you can modify the quicktags.js file to perform even simpler tagging by selecting a word in your post and clicking the “SL” or “SLWiki” button. You need to add the following lines to the quicktags.js file:

edButtons[edButtons.length] = new edButton('lang_en','SL','','');
edButtons[edButtons.length] = new edButton('lang_en','SLWiki','','');

Is it possible to include the two images in your zip file? Is it also possible to modify the path for the images to wp_includes/images?

Thanks in advance!

Hehe … I have another one! Could you use gif or png instead of jpg with transparent background in order to let it look good on other backgrounds than plain white. ;-)

Oh … it should be ../wp-includes/images of course … typo. BTW I have modified the plugin already as you can see on http://blog.CosyHome.org. Thanks again for your plugin!

Hey, thanks for the link, and the new plugin. I’m glad I could inspire someone to branch out!

If you don’t mind, I may include SecondLife tags in the next version of ST+. I’m actually considering adding a sginificant number of social and tagging sites. Perhaps a single tagging command, with an options screen to select which tagging services to list links for. Brainstorming in comments… Sounds like fun. =)

Sure feel free to include it! Think its much better to make one that includes all the nice tags…
